The CVB in Havasu claims the decline in tourism is due to the economy. If that is so why is this article dated over a year ago?
Hotel revenues on decline
Officials, businesses point to oil prices, home sales

Hotel revenue fell sharply in September as concerns about the overall economy deterred many vacationers from traveling over Labor Day, officials said.
The latest financial snapshot of the local tourism industry, released Thursday by the city’s Finance Department, showed that hotel revenue in September dropped by more than $440,000, or 18 percent. First-quarter revenue was down more than $560,000, or 7.65 percent.
Leo Biasucci, general manager of the Island Inn, wasn’t surprised by the figures. He said rising oil prices and falling home sales have hurt tourism.
“Obviously, the economy is not as strong as it used to be,” he said. “People are crunching their bank accounts. The first that goes is traveling.”
The city’s strict behavioral ordinance also might have played a role, Biasucci said.
The law, which imposes heavy fines for public intoxication and nudity, has been praised for making the Bridgewater Channel more family friendly. But critics say it has hurt the local economy by driving away tourists. FOR FULL STORY, SEE TODAY'S NEWS-HERALD.

" Public intoxication, nudity(the pasties are a joke), trash, gang bangers, loud music, drugs, theft and it is not safe to boat in Havasu as a family when the boats are doing 100+ all around you, thats like letting your kids play on a race track. Right there are a few reasons that nobody wants to come to Havasu anymore. "

" How do you know they deserved to be arrested? Because a cop said so? So in Havasu you are convicted upon arrest? which is basically what the people who say the police are corrupt and the Judge is idiot are saying. So you are proving the point! You are not the sharpest crayon in the box. Most likely you ARE the judge. "

" I happened to be at a resturant bar by the main hotels and a young cop came in to meet his family while he was on duty. He just couldn't sit and act friendly like everyone else, he walked in and looked at everyone as if he were looking for someone. This ruined the hole vibe. He cleared the place out and the owners were angy at the fact that he did that. He didn't have to come in with that give me an excuse and I'll arrest you attitude. That's just one story. I'm not taking sides. These guys need dealing with the public mangement classes. Sorry Havasu cop lovers. "

Do you want me to tell you (or predict --whichever you prefer) what will happen next ? Are you worried about the slumping dollar in concurrence with rising gas prices, and the city's only recourse is to sell it's land in a down market and raise taxes ? This is going to get worse before it gets better folks...sad to say, I feel for those who aren't able to sell their home or might have invested in businesses within the last 2 years here in LHC. "

" Read the comments on TRIP ADVISOR. Many have said that their motel rooms were dirty, needed updating, the staff was rude, bugs, noise, overpriced, ripped carpet, no hot water, smelly, on and on. Who wants to stay in a room like that? Suppose they can't afford to repair them after the rude tourists left. Maybe everyone should take a step back and look at the WHOLE picture. As far as the London Bridge area, that is up to the owner. Wish he would get a move on and do something constructive. "

" When you can stay in Laughlin for $18-22 during the week and 40ish on the weekend, it's no wonder people don't want to come here. 1st, our rooms are over priced. 2nd, Havasu has made it very clear that we don't want the visitors. "

" Don't listen to these criminals who post here lying about our police. I just checked Laughlin's occupancy rates and they are down 14%. The economy sinks, gas is $4 a gallon in California, and we have been getting nation wide coverage of that unfortunate boy who was killed by the very rare ameoba that eats your brain scaring the crap out of visitors. It all adds up. And who cares about drunk loud mouth tourists coming here anyway? Tell them Lake Mohave is just a left turn next time. You local trailer park trash can join them. The welfare is the same in Bullhead. "

Its the lemmings of a bad judge who post here telling us how good we have that he or she is in black with little education for the job and tamples on the rights of people for a fair trial. "

" It looks like Reality check is trying to intimidate someone. Reality Check must be a cop. I wonder how those who say gas prices are the problem can say that now when the newpaper prints an article today that says travel by car is up? The corrupt cops and bad judges are the issue here. The more the online intimidation, threats and insults go on the more I believe Cops in Havasu are corrupt as well as the Judge. When you can't dispute the facts you insult, threaten, and try to marginalize those who tell the facts. And no, I am not "DB" "

Even in the froozen tundra where people love their snowmobiles. But they take gas too and gas to haul them. People are using their money for food and mortgages-well, most of them are, some can't afford their mortage any longer--so are they going to come to LH and spend money? No, they are going to stay home because their credit cards are maxed. "

Reuters news had an article today about the fact that people are DRIVING to more places for vacation and not FLYING. I do not recall boats in the check-in luggage. "
