The following was reported by the Kingman Daily Miner! Sunday, July 26, 2009 KINGMAN - A man who appeared at a release hearing for his daughter and wife Thursday at the Kingman/Cerbat Justice Center was admonished by Judge John Taylor after the man called the proceedings "a kangaroo court" and hopped out of the courtroom imitating the animal.

Two county candidates join race, one drops out

KINGMAN - Two new Mohave County candidates joined the race and one Bullhead City candidate withdrew from the 2010 election.
The candidates, who have filed papers with a $500 limit, are running in the 2010 election and include the Clerk of the Superior Court and Superior Court judges for Divisions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6. Constables and justices of the peace for the Bullhead City, Kingman, Lake Havasu City, Cerbat and Moccasin justice courts are also up for re-election as well as Mohave Community College Board members for District 2 and 4.
Superior Court Judge Steven Conn is now running for another term on the bench for Division 3. Three other incumbent Superior Court judges, Division 1 Judge Charles Gurtler Jr., Division 2 Judge Randy Bartlett and Division 4 Judge Lee Jantzen are also running for re-election.
Kingman Justice of the Peace Rick Lambert, Cerbat Justice of the Peace John Taylor and Lake Havasu City Justice of the Peace Jill Wachtel Davis are also running for another term as lower court justices. Wigberto M. Coronel withdrew from running for Bullhead City Justice of the Peace.
Bob Crabtree is running for Lake Havasu City Constable. Cerbat Constable Jean Bishop and Bullhead City Constable Michael Lee Hamilton are also running for another term. Michael R. Cobb and John Slaughter are running for Kingman constable.
Clerk of the Superior Court Virlynn Tinnell has also filed papers to run for re-election.
The first day to file for nomination petitions for partisan county candidates is April 26, 2010 and the last day to file is May 26, 2010. The last day to register for the Aug. 24, 2010 primary election is July 26, 2010. Registration for the Nov. 2, 2010 general election is Oct. 4, 2010.
